We’re pretty sure we can help find
a place that you’ll like for your holiday. If the
West Country is your target, we have about 550 of its very best holiday cottages. All have been carefully
checked by our team and they’re in our portfolio
only because we believe they’re good places for
happy holidays.
Well we would say that, wouldn’t we? Perhaps…
but, actually, we’d like to give you the opportunity to lay down the cudgels of cynicism and luxuriate
in the glow of confidence that we’ll do
as we say and the place we help you choose will
be just as we describe – no flannel. Helpful
Holidays’ reputation is built on a relentless, ongoing,
absolutely unrelenting determination to make sure
our holidaymakers, when they arrive at the properties we
promote, if they say anything, say, "Wow!"
We badger our holidaymakers to complete
questionnaires at the end of their holidays, tiresome but hugely necessary. I read them all and they’re
all ‘scored’. In 2006 I said I hoped we’d hit 96% positive
for 2007 and, as our brochure for 2008 goes to press, we
have. As so many of our holidaymakers tell us each year,
that’s 'better than we expected'. Talk
may be cheap, the stats speak for themselves.
We aim to do more than efficiently process
a commercial transaction – although we do achieve that too. We sincerely believe if we’re good at what
we do, don’t get tempted into cutting corners
and never get distracted from our guiding
principles, that with our help, expertise and local knowledge, we can make the difference between an average
choice of holiday home and a great one, perhaps turn a sigh
of resignation into a gasp of delight, or light
up a smile from a furrowed brow. If we
can, that’s enough.

HH has been a family business
since it was founded in 1982. We're based in Chagford within the Dartmoor National Park; at the
heart of the West Country. We know it and the holiday cottages
we let very well and although we now have an excellent
team of 30 (some pictured above) who administer,
inspect (see star
ratings) and help arrange a little over 16,000
bookings a year we retain a 'small firm' ethos where customers
automatically come first. It says something that
(60%+) of our bookings are from previous customers, their
friends, relatives and work colleagues and amazing as it
may sound, a fairly standard 99.25% of customers
who've responded to our questionnaires in 2007 said they
would recommend our services to friends.
We laughed when, in the early days of
the internet, our IT department started automatically replying
to e-mails sent to us with the words "Humans are
now dealing with your enquiry," but perhaps this
best sums up HH - Helpful Humans.
