Hurrah! At last we can start to put
away our winter coats and merrily step into warmer
and longer days. After such a bleak and
cold early spring, we’re ready to appreciate a surge
of growth and colour to coincide with Easter,
just a week away.
There’s still time to organise a few days away
in the countryside or on the
coast of the West Country. If
you’d like us to help - call us
and we’ll do our very best to do so. |
| We can now take short breaks over the
Easter holiday weekend. If there are just
two of you, the
Garden
Cottage (J10) at Kingscott near Torrington
is likely to appeal; for a larger group or family,
Shute
House (G150) has a tennis court, lovely views
and is only 5 miles from the sea. Please contact us and
we’ll help find the best place for you. |
| Don’t forget, there’s another
chance for a break very soon after Easter
over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend –
short breaks now available over this weekend as well. |
From late May, go to Abbotsbury Swannery,
just 9 miles west of Weymouth, to catch the first tentative
flutterings of this year’s infant swans.
The unique joy of Abbotsbury Swannery is the opportunity
to observe newborn cygnets close up. You
can wander amid the nests and enjoy the
educational ‘Ugly Duckling Trail’
which helps explain the swannery in a family-friendly way,
as well as an audio-visual show, a wonderful swinging nests
play area and a bale mountain for children to play on (the
bale mountain is open from the end of May).
There is also a children's farm near
the Swannery, ideal for young families. The children can
bottle feed the baby goats, cuddle guinea
pigs, race toy tractors and play in the sandpits or on
the outdoor swings and there is a large indoor
play area for wet days.
Also, don't forget the subtropical gardens,
20 acres of exotic and unusual plants from all over the
world with a superb teahouse, plant centre, gift shop
and children’s play area.

Fowey Estuary. Visit
www.dumaurierfestival.co.uk
for more info.
From 27th May to 11th June you can enjoy
the rich, unique culture and heritage of the Fal Estuary.
Visit the Fal River Festival and enjoy
a stunning programme of events taking place both on and
off the water. Venues include Pendennis Castle,
The National Maritime Museum, Trelissick, St Mawes
and Truro.
Hembal

are still free, so do get in touch with us if you like
the sound of this festival.

Loopy lurchers, an idiosyncratic
eagle owl called Mrs Merlin and a bunch of sociable
hawks welcomed members of the Helpful Holidays
team to Puddaven Farm near North Bovey
on Dartmoor last month. Falcons
spun out of grey skies at over 200mph to attack
a whirling lure and Harris hawks bobbed
from tree to fist for a tasty reward of chicken niblets.
The Dartmoor Hawking School of Falconry
offers a variety of experiences with these fascinating creatures
in the stunning scenery of the National Park. Absolutely
no experience required (as we proved). Good fun.

| Our second supplement of fabulous new
holiday homes will be available very soon. We showed you
a few in the last newsletter, but here are some more. You’ll
always be able to find one of the office team with first-hand
knowledge of all of these and any of our other properties;
they’re all involved in inspecting and photographing
them and can give you their frank and honest opinions
to help you make the right choice for you. |
| Happy Easter and we look forward to hearing from you soon.
Best wishes
