Totnes Orange Rolling

It wouldn't be summer without a strange tradition or two - in this case, the odd spectacle of watching people race and chase oranges down a steep high street in Totnes, South Devon. The tradition reputedly dates back to the day Sir Francis Drake bumped into a delivery boy, causing him to spill his fast-moving fruit down the hill. Roll along on 21st – 22nd August

What a difference a year makes! Last summer too much liquidity of the watery kind and this summer too little liquidity of the monetary type! Whatever the obstacles we hope you’ll enjoy your holidays wherever you go, but especially if you come here to the West Country where we trust the welcome will soon rejuvenate you.

Best wishes,

Moray Bowater
