swelling buds on trees. Here, on the Moor,
the countryside feels like it’s taking in one
huge, long breath as spring hints at its anticipated
arrival; in Cornwall the daffis are in full bloom
and the full force of the spring explosion is gathering
pace. You could be forgiven for thinking this would be a
quiet time of year in the countryside, but
it’s not! |

| Our Easter Sunday egg hunts are infamous
for their appalling poetry clues and impossibly difficult
hiding places. “Where the water meets the
oil, there you’ll find it in silver foil”
is a perennial favourite. Other staple gems include
“Near the bunnies munching pen, the Easter hen made
a little den,” and “Where the
washing hangs by pegs, there you’ll find your Easter
eggs” - oh dear! Houses for Easter
are booking up fast; so don’t leave it too long before
booking a place to hunt and eat eggs! Amongst
our bigger properties still free for the

It’s now over a month since Christmas and perhaps
you’re beginning to feel a bit hungry again! Don’t
panic - there are abundant food and drink
events across the West Country during February and March.
These include the Cornwall Wine and Food Fair

and more accolades for its fresh, quality produce, more
of these festivals are taking place and they’re great
fun. Sample local cheeses, chutneys, meat, fish
and vegetables and even surprising treats like
chilli-flavoured chocolate.
Many of the special events happening in the South West in
2006 are detailed in our new ‘What shall we
do today?’ guide which we send to you with
your booking confirmation. |
