The lovely warmth of June, exuberant banks of wild flowers, hedges and trees in all shades of green, winding coastal paths and inviting beaches and coves, long, long evenings outside, eating, drinking and enjoying local happenings; and some amazing discounts to tempt you to do just that.
From around the midsummer solstice onwards (Sunday 21st June is the longest day), have a look at S420 overlooking Frenchmans Creek, just £94 per person; or L548 with indoor pool and only 20 yards from Bigbury-on-Sea's big and splendid sandy beach, at £197 per person. For only £78 per person, you can spend a week in a lovely family house (A147) on the edge of Dartmoor. For somewhere truly stunning, have a look at the apartment at Start Bay (L84), only £182 per person. At Cricket St Thomas, stay at E15 for just £138 person and say hello to the ring-tailed lemurs at the nearby wildlife park.

Seafaring adventurer Pete Goss tells his epic tales… |
 |
Spirit of Mystery, a 37ft wooden lugger, was built in Cornwall and sailed by Pete and his crew all the way to Australia, replicating the original voyage of 1854. By popular demand, he’s coming back for a second chat about the voyage at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth on 29th June. Tickets are limited, so do call 01326 214546 if you’d like to go.

New properties…
There are great new properties joining us all the time! In Mousehole, reputed to be the prettiest of the Cornish fishing villages, a lovely elegant house (Z31) with out-to-sea views and a spectacular infinity swimming pool; and an adjoining cottage (Z32) with those same great sea views; in Devoran, S43 is very close to creek-side walking and boating from the quay. In the popular village of Cawsand is a 19th century cottage (R410). L616 is a generous-sized house at Bigbury-on-Sea, while further east in Devon, not far from Honiton are two single-storey cottages (G30 and G31) converted from a former milking parlour and shippen. Also in Devon, and not very far west of Exeter is J20, a newly converted cottage with roaming chickens. |

How does your garden grow?
Many of the fantastic West Country gardens also have some great vegetable sections and the produce often finds its way into their cafés and restaurants. There’s Nansloe Manor near Helston, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, of course, and Trevaskis Farm near Hayle. In Devon you can wander round Lewtrenchard Manor near Okehampton and Knightshayes on the edge of Tiverton. Ston Easton is a stunning Victorian vegetable garden near Bath and Barrington Court, Ilminster has a lovely stone-walled kitchen garden.
