| Autumn has really kicked in during the
last few days with some heavy rainfall.
Is this bad news? No! Shoals of golden leaves are
piling up in the woods - perfect for hurling high in the
air - and the West Country rivers are becoming
tumbling torrents. The salmon are leaping
and waves are starting to crash along the coastline.
Let us help you find a cosy place to hunker down, with a
woodburner or open fire, to enjoy a spot of toe-toasting
and battery recharging. It’s a great time
to discover new places to walk. The websites
below might give you some ideas…

and

Or you might like to be less energetic, in which case
these websites might help…

| We’d love to find you a wonderful place
in the West Country for your holiday in 2006. Loads
of our 2006 brochures have left our Chagford office
in the last few weeks, so if you haven’t got one yet,
do ask us or order one via our website,
www.helpfulholidays.com.
At this time of year, holiday homes which
have been provisionally booked for months
sometimes become available again as peoples’ plans
change, so perhaps there is an opportunity
to get the property you thought had already gone. Remember,
all our holiday homes are personally inspected
and star rated by members of our team. You can make
use of their first hand knowledge of any property
and they’ll be very happy to give you their frank
and honest opinions. |
| … please make sure you don’t miss out on a
Christmas or New Year break! We still have
excellent properties accommodating up to
10 people available and changeover days are flexible
so you can really make the most of your time off. Four of
the bigger houses which are still available
are
S11
and
B90
(from 28th December),
R394
(from 21st December), all sleeping 16 and also
L99
(from 29th December), sleeping 14. |
| If you’re in the West Country
before Christmas, there is plenty going on which
means you can combine festive events and
local shopping opportunities: |
November
3rd-19th Exeter Autumn Festival (music)
16th-21st Camborne Music Festival
26th-27th Crafts for Christmas at Pencarrow
30th Christmas lights in Ilfracombe |
December

2nd Cheddar Festive Night
3rd Sidmouth Christmas Carnival
4th-12th Wells Christmas Market
10th–11th Trelissick Gardens Cornish

11th Christmas Carols and Animal Blessing in Henley
(Somerset) |
| James, one of our Chagford telephone
team, has won the ‘Outstanding Customer
Service’ award in this year’s 2005/2006
South West Tourism Excellence Awards. The awards,
known as the region’s ‘Tourism Oscars’,
reward and promote quality within the tourism
industry. James collected his award from Simon Calder,
Travel Editor of the Independent Newspaper and TV Presenter,
at a special dinner at Woodbury Park on 1st November 2005.
He has now been put forward for the national ‘Enjoy
England Awards for Excellence’ in 2006. |
 |
| This year we were also shortlisted as regional
finalists for the 2005 E-Commerce Awards,
organised by the DTI, and as regional finalists in the Parcelforce
Worldwide Small Business Awards.
However, we continue to be a small scale, family
run business, dedicated to doing all we can to help you
find a good place for your holiday in the West Country.
Our office in Chagford is open for bookings from 9am to
9pm from Monday to Thursday, 9am to 7.30pm on Friday and
9am to 5pm on Saturday.
We very much look forward to helping you find a good
place for your next holiday in the West Country.
Best wishes
