“The things we did last summer,
We’ll remember all winter long” |
| Crisper weather and quieter lanes. It’s a
great time of year to get out and about exploring.
Escape to the West Country and spend time
kicking up the carpet of fallen leaves.
Watch the rivers happily filling again
after that long hot summer. Listen for the caw of tumbling
rooks and the call of a distant pheasant.
Have a break before the bustle of Christmas
starts and perhaps do a bit of quiet shopping
in a small boutique.
If you haven’t got time for a week away, you could
just book a long weekend in one of our
warm and cosy cottages all across
the West Country. |

Dunster, 25th November and 1st to 2nd December
Why not come and experience a Farmers’ Market
and pick up some tips on decorating your own home by seeing
how the castle gardeners make fabulous garlands
and decorations from the castle garden greenery?
Then, for two nights in December, with the streets under
the castle lit only by candles, there is
a lantern parade with musicians
and jugglers and you can even travel
by steam train and avoid car parking problems.
Shops, restaurants and food stalls are open too.

award-winning Lobbs Farm Shop.
Also in the area, the final link between National
Cycle Route 3 and the Lost Gardens

Bookings for Christmas are gathering steam,
but we still have excellent properties in all areas, right
from the far South West to Dorset and up to Bath.
With Christmas Day on a Monday this year,
you could get away from work on 22nd December and be comfortably
relaxed in your holiday home with the fire
lit and the food and drink stocked
up well before ‘the big day’. All our holiday
homes are known to us and we’re always
happy to talk to you about any of them
and answer any queries you may have. If
your question’s so good that we don’t
know the answer straight away, we’ll just find out,
and call you straight back. Give us a try…
|
| Don’t forget, as well as our website, we also produce
a 215 page colour brochure, great for browsing
and spotting interesting properties. If you haven’t
got one, give us a buzz or order one from
our
website. |
| We’re always looking for new, interesting holiday
homes to add to our portfolio, and since the 2007 brochure
was published, we’ve added a few more.

Helpful Holidays are happy to announce they are sponsoring
Farms for City Children's Christmas card for 2006.
Farms for City Children is celebrating its thirtieth
anniversary this year. Children’s writer Michael
Morpurgo and his wife Clare founded the charity in 1976
at Nethercott Farm in Devon. They now have three working
farms. Their main aim is to develop the potential of children
from urban areas by offering them a week in the countryside
working together on their farms.
The children get involved in all aspects of farm life.
They discover teamwork and the joys of the natural world.
It is an unforgettable experience, stretching them physically,
intellectually and emotionally.
This year's card is very special. Quentin Blake’s
wonderful cover artwork from the new book written by Michael
Morpurgo, 'On Angels Wings', is the illustration.
Cards can be purchased from the charity at £6.50
for 10 including package and postage by going to their
website
www.farmsforcitychildren and downloading a booking
form.

| So if you fancy a November break, whether
it’s a week away or a weekend retreat
– just give us a buzz and we’ll make some suggestions.
There’s plenty to choose from and
the team will help you choose a place that’s just
right for you.
Best wishes
Moray Bowater
