Regatta season, white sails above sparkling
blue water, creaking cleats and jumping jibs…
Regattas are a popular part of the West Country
calendar in the summer months. They usually run for
several days and provide a focus for street
music and processions, lots of food
and drink and general jollification as well
as the central issue of yacht and boat racing. Sometimes
there are even displays by the Red Arrows
which can be very dramatic over a sparkling sea or
estuary.
Here are the dates of a few:

Salcombe Regatta 1st - 7th August, Falmouth
Sailing Week 5th - 13th August, Appledore Regatta Week
7th – 13th August, Fowey Royal Regatta 14th –
20th August, Dartmouth Regatta 24th - 28th August.
The Red Arrows are at Fowey,
Sidmouth and Dartmouth
and the exact dates are on their website at www.raf.mod.uk/reds.
Also, from 17th – 18th June, the Tall
Ships are in Falmouth and
later in September they are in Torbay.
More immediate events in June include the Polperro
Festival from 18th – 26th and Mazey
Day in Penzance which includes spectacular
fireworks on 24th. |

| At the recent Devon County Show,
one of our larger properties, Brimpts Farm
on Dartmoor, received the Devon Life Magazine Food
& Drink award for Best Food Producer
of the year. In 2004, they were awarded an Investors
in People Award. |
