| August has drawn to a close with some
of the hottest days of summer in the West Country and long
range weather forecasts indicate a settled outlook
well into September. Why not come and enjoy this
quieter time of year as the region takes on the
russet colours of autumn and says goodbye
to the busy weeks of summer? We have great value
holiday homes in all areas, all carefully inspected
and impartially star-rated by our experienced team. Our
standards are uncompromising and our recommendations
wholehearted. Speak to one of our team for a frank
description or recommendation of suitable alternatives. |
| Well, Helpful Holidays is!!
On 13th September we will be using this world-famous event
to launch our new 2006 brochure. As one
of the Fair’s sponsors we will have our own
stand on the Fair field throughout the day –
come and see us, collect a copy of the
new brochure and enter a competition to win a holiday for
two at one of our cottages. In the evening, we will be hosting
a press launch and also presenting our cheque to
the 2005 charity, Farms for City Children, an act
made possible by your kind donations. But don’t worry
if you can’t make it as we are currently sending out
invitations to customers to request a 2006 brochure, so
look out for yours. |
| Incidentally, the famous song
about the Fair was first published by Sabine Baring-Gould
(1834-1924), one of the Victorian era’s great social
historical researchers, and from 21st to 23rd October the
Baring-Gould Folk Festival takes place in Okehampton

We really love our local food
here in the Westcountry and if you’re holidaying
in the Somerset area in the coming weeks why
not go to one of a trio of food festivals? From 1st to
9th October there is the South Somerset Food Festival
at the Somerset Levels Michaelmas Food and Craft Market,
Montacute House -
www.southsomersetfoodfestival.com.
Up on Exmoor, the Exmoor Food Festival
from 7th to 16th October involves a series of around 50
food linked events in the stunning landscape of the National
Park -
www.exmoorfoodfestival.co.uk.
The Mendip Food and Drink Festival takes
place during the half-term week of October 21st to 30th
and encompasses the five Mendip towns of Shepton Mallet,
Frome, Wells, Glastonbury and Street -

We have a number of holiday
homes in the area: for example: |
| The weekend of 23rd to 25th September
will be dedicated to wildlife with a full programme of special
guided walks and tours across the moor. Helpful
Holidays has nearly 100 houses and cottages in the Dartmoor
region so why not use one as a base that weekend and join
in with some of these activities -

| Even with the imminent arrival of our
2006 brochure, we are still busy adding new properties
and here are just a few which have recently joined us. |
| As you can see, there is a lot going on this autumn
and we do look forward to welcoming you
to the South West again very soon.
Best Wishes
Moray Bowater
