Families heading for a half term break in a holiday cottage in Dorset will be just in time to experience a heritage steam locomotive event courtesy of the
Swanage Railway.
Offering vintage rides through the picturesque Isle of Purbeck, next to the dramatic Jurassic Coast, the railway has lined up a Family Fun Week running from 13th to 21st February 2010.
Visitors will be treated to entertaining events around the railway, with attractions including a static steam engine and steam hauled brake van rides lined up in the programme.
Every child attending the event will receive a free activity pack, as well as an opportunity to experience 'the excitement of exploring the footplate of a main line steam locomotive' where the controls are, according to the railway.
Self catering accommodation throughout the half term period can be booked from West County cottage expert Helpful Holidays, which also has properties in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Hampshire.
