Holidaymakers enjoying their Devon holiday cottages in Torquay may want to check out
Torre Abbey, a historic attraction with the title of the oldest building in Torquay.
Some 800 years worth of history and intrigue are packed in the magnificent Abbey, which was "once the most important Abbey of its kind in England", according to the attraction.
The Abbey was once the home of brothers known as the White Canons of the Premonstratensian order and their life there left an impact on the property that can be felt today.
Thanks to a massive three-year restoration project where "some stunning finds" were unearthed, Devon holiday cottage guests can now visit and "explore the most ancient and hallowed parts of the building".
As well as the rich history of monastic remains, historic rooms and the family chapel, the attraction is also surrounded by parks and gardens with views of the sea.
Tickets cost just under £6.
