| Please note: To clarify, the maid service is available at extra charge. There is falconry display on the hotel terrace daily at 10am. All guests over 16 years receive a complimentary round on the championship 18 hole golf course (subject to availability and non-transferable) From lunchtime on the 24th December until lunchtime on the 27th December and from lunchtime on the 30th December until lunchtime on 1st January there is restricted access to the hotel. The lounge areas, Bovey Rangers and the Playbarn are for hotel guests only during this time. The pool, gym etc are still available for the use of guests staying in the lodges but the Spa and Golf will be available for reduced hours. | ||||||||||||||||||||||

The place:
North Bovey: postcard-pretty village (pub, medieval church) with tree-shaded green in the beautiful wooded valley of the mini River Bovey, two lane-miles from the spectacular open moor around Manaton or Moretonhampstead. Bovey Castle (hotel, good restaurant, golf), about 2 miles.
The property:
... 2 miles from North Bovey in a lovely setting is Bovey Castle, built in 1907 as a country seat for the heir to the WH Smith empire and now a renowned hotel. Carefully hidden in the grounds are 14 private, granite-built lodges of which we offer 4. These smart, stylish, comfy properties overlook the Edwardian gardens, lake and tennis courts. All the hotel facilities are yours to enjoy, including indoor heated swimming pool (65’ x 19'6" x 4'6"deep), gym, steam room, sauna, spa (beauty treatments), restaurants and bistro. Outside are hard and grass tennis courts (lessons available), croquet lawn (seasonal) and cricket nets (late May-mid September). Supervised play room for children under 8 (extra, available school holidays and half-terms) with arts and crafts, egg collecting and ferrets. Seven to 14 year olds can join the Bovey Rangers (school holidays only, extra) and enjoy activities ranging from rock climbing to survival skills, ending each day with high tea. Optional activities include archery, rifle shooting, fly fishing, falconry, riding, clay pigeon shooting, cider and sloe gin making and beekeeping! Wrapped around the hotel and lodges is a championship 18 hole golf course with driving range and pro shop. If you’d rather something a little quieter, roam the 400 acre estate (wellies provided). If you don’t feel like cooking, order a restaurant meal or pizza to be delivered to your lodge, or for a special occasion, book a table at the hotel’s restaurant or bistro. The friendly hotel staff will help you arrange any activities you wish. An exceptional place to stay. Wedding licence. Maid service. Kitty Jay is detached and the nearest to the hotel. Front door into open-plan living/dining/fitted kitchen (dishwasher, big larder fridge, freezer, microwave) with door to balcony (table/chairs, barbecue) and lovely views to the open moor. Living area with big stone central fireplace (‘living flame’ gas fire), CD player, exposed roof trusses and double doors to the balcony. Cloakroom with loo and washbasin. Stairs down to two light and bright bedrooms - one with 6’ double or linkable twin beds with en suite bathroom (suite plus bath-shower), the other with 5’ double and en suite shower-room (suite): both have a door leading to decking area. Utility room with washer-drier. From the living room, stairs up to master double with 6’ bed and en suite bathroom (suite with separate shower). 2 TVs/DVD. |
