The place:
Torquay: Devon’s most famous resort, built on hills beside its magnificent bay; palm trees along its seafront; several sandy beaches, harbour (pleasure cruises, mackerel fishing) and yacht marina, theatre, cinemas and leisure centre; lovely public gardens and pitch and putt (plus proper golf course); yachts, water-skiers.

The property:

... in Torquay, in one of its smartest and oldest residential areas called Wellswood (good houses, lots of trees, large gardens), a grand, Grade II listed, early Victorian house with lovely, long sea views, in just over an acre of garden. To one side, a mimosa tree-shaded lawn with table and chairs, gravel terrace and, beyond, winding paths leading down through densely growing rhododendron, laurel and hydrangea (great for 'hide and seek' games) into woodland and orchard area.

Inside, lofty, spacious and elegant with some lovely pieces of furniture. Large open porch; entrance dining hall with fine marble fireplace (ornamental); wonderfully sunny living room with huge windows looking to the garden and sea beyond, second sitting room (open fire, chandelier, TV/DVD/video, books, games); huge kitchen (dishwasher, microwave, fridge-freezer, range cooker with 6-burner gas hob and electric double oven) with table and chairs in the middle, TV, CD player and another fine marble fireplace (ornamental); door from kitchen to conservatory with chairs; back lobby with washing machine, and loo/washbasin. Stairs down to cellar-games room with table tennis, half-sized pool table, table football and darts.

Stairs from hall up to landing and five bedrooms - two double (both with sea views and TV) with en suite bathrooms (suites, one with bath-shower and one with hand-shower), a twin (TV) with en suite shower-room (suite, also accessible from landing), a huge room with two sets of twin beds, sea view, TV/DVD and en suite bathroom (suite plus bath-shower and hand-shower), and another small double with washbasin; loo/washbasin. At the back, an attached cottage occupied by caretaker.

Membership of health and fitness club (indoor pool, sauna, solarium, gym, tennis) at nearby Osborne Hotel (2 minute drive or 10 minute walk through woods) for a small charge (ask us for details). A super family house. Cautionary Deposit £250. Arrival after 4pm.
