The place:
Topsham: old, interesting and attractive little town (good shops, antiques) beside the River Exe estuary, once Exeter's Roman/medieval port. On railway. Riverside walks, boat trips, good birdwatching (RSPB reserve). Exmouth, 7 miles. Exeter (city amenities), 4. Three good golf courses within 7 miles. Beautiful farmland and the heath-hill of Woodbury Common inland.
The property:
… on a quiet lane in Topsham, close to the shops and pubs and a slipway, a surprisingly spacious, second floor apartment in a terrace of 18th cent. houses, possibly once warehouses. Split-level site, so almost ground level (4 steps up) front entrance. Lovely view from the other side, which fronts on to The Strand, over the quay and estuary to countryside beyond. Entrance to a little hall, then 5 steps up to the comfortable living/dining room with the magnetic view that draws you to the window (window seat). Little kitchen (washer-drier, microwave); two bedrooms - double and twin (both with the view) - and bathroom (suite plus bath-shower). TV/DVD/video. |
