The place:
Welcombe Mouth: cove (rocks and sand at low-tide, great surfing) between spectacular cliffs in one of the most unspoilt parts of the West Country, and an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Coast path, great birdwatching. Welcombe hamlet (community shop, good food pub, pottery), 1 mile. Hartland, 10 miles; Bude, 12.
The property:
… a mile from the good food pub at Welcombe and in total privacy, a single-storey house with superbly tranquil views to the sea at Welcombe Mouth (½ mile). The whole area (mostly owned by Nat.Trust and Cadbury Trust) is a haven for deer, badgers, birds, butterflies and wildlife in general. Approached along 150 yards of hardcore track, 3 acres belonging to it, mostly left to provide wildlife habitat. Flat grass area with picnic bench looking down to the sea (toddlers must be supervised). |
