The place:
Moreleigh: tiny village with pleasant pub in lovely, little-visited (because well off main roads), hilly, wooded farming country in the heart of the South Hams, not far from the sea, flirting with the beautiful valley of the river Avon (fishing). Sea/beaches at Bantham and Thurlestone, 8 miles. Kingsbridge, 6; Dartmoor, 8.

The property:

... a mile from Moreleigh and 2 from Harbertonford (PO/shop, pub), down a little lane and next to the friendly owners' ancient farmhouse but completely private from it, three excellent cottages converted from old stone barns, all detached and private from one another. You are welcome to walk the long countryside trails (fields, woods, streams) over the owners’ 200 acres. The three cottages share family games rooms with air hockey (extra), table tennis, pool table, table football, and outdoor play area (giant safety-sided trampoline, swings), plus full-sized snooker table and bar billiards in another (adults only) barn. Concessionary rates for Dartmouth Golf and Country Club and Woodlands Leisure Park. Professional catering and ready meals available. Free range eggs, fish, lobster and crab available in season. Each cottage has its own enclosed garden (lawn, flowers, patio, barbecue).

Nellie's: entrance via your own enclosed patio through a completely glazed wall under a two-storey-high conical roof supported by a tree trunk (intricate roof timbers exposed) into open-plan kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, freezer, larder fridge). Living room (woodburner, TV/DVD, floor-to-ceiling window to courtyard) through to double bedroom (5’ bed, TV/DVD) with en suite power-shower-room (wet-room suite). Stairs (stairgates) up to first floor with semi-circular (round the trunk!) galleried mezzanine play area (TV/video) and two bedrooms – a double (5’ bed) with glimpses of Dartmoor through full-length opening windows (balustrade), TV/DVD and en suite loo and washbasin, and twin plus high cabin bed (best for older children) with views over courtyard; bathroom (suite plus bath-shower and hand-shower). Best for maximum of 6 people.
