The place:
East Allington: little South Hams village (good food pub, church), 3½ miles from Kingsbridge, and about 8 from the good sandy beaches at Thurlestone or Bantham; Dartmouth (town), 6 miles. Golf. Family leisure park (animals, children’s activities), 4 miles.
The property:
… 1¾ miles west of East Allington along a no through road, on an organic 300 acre sheep/beef farm which you are welcome to wander, four excellent, well thought through cottages converted from handsome Victorian barns, with ample parking: two ‘upside-down’ semi-detached cottages (L65 and L66) and, across a courtyard, two more semi-detached cottages (L60 and L61). There is an open-ended games barn (table tennis, pool table, swings, climbing frame). Foot and bridlepaths lead from the farm to the beautiful wooded river Avon valley, so excellent walking country and a central location for coast and Dartmoor. Hawthorn Barn (arrow 1) has its own enclosed patio area with table/chairs and 3 steps up to the front door. Living room with woodburner, modern flooring/rugs, TV/DVD; 2 steps down to large, birch fitted kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, washing machine, tumble drier, microwave, fridge-freezer) with glazed doors to small, sunny paved area with bench looking across fields. At this level, a twin bedroom with en suite shower-room (suite). Stairs (stairgate) down to two more bedrooms – a double (5' bed) with en suite shower-room (suite), and a twin; bathroom (suite plus bath-shower). Countryside views.These two cottages are attached to each other and at the back look on to a courtyard and the other two semi-detached cottages (L65 and L66). |
