… halfway between Marhamchurch and Widemouth Bay is Whalesborough Farm, dating from the Domesday Book. From the A39, 700 yards of good concrete lane lead to it. Excellent cheese is produced (you can watch it being made). Footpaths over owners’ land to the beach at Widemouth, 1 mile; to Bude beaches, along the coastal path, 2 miles. Canal towpath (recently regenerated) and cycle track to Bude, both easily accessed from farm. Seasonal tea rooms, 400 yards. Two buildings have been converted into houses; they both have use of an outdoor heated swimming pool (50’ x 25’ x 3’3’’ to 5’ deep, available 1 May to 11 Sept). The Calf House
is a
handsome detached stone house converted from old barns, winning a design award. At its front is a small walled patio (table/chairs); at the back, an open cobbled courtyard.
