The place:
Morwenstow: high hamlet with fascinating church (legendary 19th cent. vicar), good food pub, acclaimed tea rooms, at the head of a combe to the sea (cliffs). Close to the highest cliffs in Cornwall (good walking, birdwatching). Nat. Trust owned cove beach, 2½ miles. Good pony-trekking nearby; Bude (sand/surf, golf), 7 miles.

The property:

... a detached, 'upside down' cottage with superb sea views down Morwenstow combe, converted from stables in a quiet spot at top of the long drive to the large well-kept gardens of the old vicarage, built by Rev. Hawker (who introduced Harvest Festivals and help for shipwrecked mariners); the vicarage's chimneys are models of towers of churches he knew. Footpath to the coast. Excellent tea rooms nearby and ¼ mile to good food pub.

In front of the cottage is your own garden. Three stone steps up to entrance. Inside, slate-floored hall, lime-washed walls. Downstairs twin bedroom with en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower) and French windows to footpath. Upstairs, living/dining room (TV/DVD/video, CD player) with wood floor and art deco low arched windows (fabulous valley-sea views); fitted kitchen in Shaker hues (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, freezer, larder fridge); two bedrooms - double with small en suite shower-room (suite) and Velux window, and double (5' bed) with en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower). Use of three-quarter-size billiard room (by arrangement) in owner's house. Sleeps maximum of 6, including babies. Excellent conversion, in exceptionally beautiful surroundings.
