The place:
Port Isaac: exceptionally pretty fishing village (shops, pubs, restaurants), setting for the ‘Doc Martin’ series, on a steep hillside round a natural harbour between cliffs (low tide beach, rock pools). Spectacular coastal walks. Port Gaverne (cove beach), ½ mile. St Endellion, 1 mile. Port Quin (beautiful ‘fjord’, spectacular walks), 2½. Polzeath (splendid sand/surf) and Rock (watersports, golf), 5.

The property:


… ½ mile up from Port Isaac and less than a mile from its pretty harbour, a single-storey cottage converted from an old barn, all smart and immaculate with modern slate floors throughout. Famous ‘Doc Martin’ characters sat on its garden wall when the crew camped out here during its construction. At the back, a large, enclosed lawned garden (table/chairs, barbecue) and, beyond, agricultural barns (vehicle storage) and cattle-grazed meadows – an occasional tractor will trundle by.

 

From gravelled surrounds, 3 shallow steps up to front door; hall (space for coats/boots); living room with TV/DVD and glazed doors to garden; smart fitted kitchen/dining room (slimline dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer) with table/chairs. Two bedrooms – a double (TV), and one with two single beds; shower-room (suite). Friendly owners live 100’ away.
