The place:
Widecombe-in-the-Moor: Dartmoor’s most famous village. Beautiful position in deep farmed valley between steep tor-topped hills; good food pub, splendid church, pretty round it. Fair (Uncle Tom Cobley and all) in September. Excellent walking base for the moor’s most spectacular part; riding stables. The sea (Torbay), 19 miles.

The property:

… in a sheltered cup in the moor (trees, stream) beside almost traffic-free lane (moorland ponies use it more than cars), 1½ miles from Widecombe and 3 from Dartmeet, two granite cottages, attached to the friendly owners’ farmhouse. You are welcome on the farm (47 acres with cows, horses, poultry), and the Two Moors Way footpath passes by, leading in ¼ mile to the West Webburn river. You can follow it to Buckfastleigh, or even to Exmoor. Pony-trekking locally. Dartmoor Expedition Centre, 1 mile. Washing machine and tumble drier in tack room next door. Spring water.

Brimble Cottage (arrow 2) has its own large, paved/cobbled patio and well-kept flower beds. Inside, comfortable and well done with some exposed granite walls. Living/dining/fitted kitchen (dishwasher, microwave) with French windows to patio, polished beech floor and piano (tuned); stairs up to three bedrooms (stairgate) - two double (one with additional single bed) and a twin (limited clothes hanging space); shower-room (suite). TV/DVD/video.
